Some authoring programs will not accept an mpg2 stream,it must be de-multiplexed into it's elementary streams,m2v and mpa(mp2). Rename the mp2 to mpa. TMPEG can de-multiplex the mpg, under Mpeg Tools.

Well I did as you suggested and I did get mixed results--the authoring program (MF2 in this case) accepted the demuxed files and actually built the dvd BUT it neglected to include sound on all the clips I had to demux them again and try again? goes to show how inflexible these authoring programs are i guess.

Can someone explain the setting under GOP "Output interval of Sequence header" should mine be set to 1 and not 0?

    Thanks again for input!

Give DVD-Lab a try, it demuxes when you load the files. It also gives you detailed infor about the file.

Output interval of sequence header in GOP settings should be set to 1 and not 0--in case any one else has this prob--all the settings were the same except that and it works now (set to 1) May be different with other author programs but this is what MF2 was choking on.

Yes, it appears for one thing the GOP settings are off. Check out the images on this page I have never had a problem outputting quality video with these settings. Some authoring programs are more strict than other but these files will work in DVD Complete one of the toughest too compile in.

    Output ISH should=1
MAX F in GOPS should =18
For one thing and if you want to speed up your encoding try
Motion Est Search [fast] in Motion search precision settings should give a increase in speed no quality loss.
Hope this works I'm on a RH 9 OS beta system (;-{>.Dd
