  1. Hello,

I am just starting out doing DVD authoring. I'm having problems with general use DVD-R's on different DVD players. This becomes a problem when I send my DVD that works on my Toshiba to customers and then it not work on machines that may not read DVD-R's. Is there any fool proof way to use a blank DVD + or - media that will work on 99% of DVD players.

    Thanks,
    Jason

DVD-R is a non-rewriteable format and it is compatible with about 89% of all DVD Players and all DVD-ROMs.

DVD-RW is a rewriteable format and it is compatible with about 72% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.

DVD+R is a non-rewritable format and it is compatible with about 83% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.

DVD+RW is a rewritable format and is compatible with about 72% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.

Ok believe it or not the media is only part of the problem. If you are using a program like dvd x press and a sony 500 DRU 500 memorex DVD -r will not record properly.
It is a matter of experimenting with the different media.
The best to date that I have found is TDK which sell in costco Canada 4 discs for 12.95 plus tax

Yes the other info is correct but most players accept DVD-R I believe it was first out it is the most popular because it has been around longer.

Depending who use speak to some believe the + DVD is better than
the -DVD. I find both are good and I can not see an diferrance

There are companies that actually press commercial DVDs in bulk amounts, right?
