  3. Actually I would recommend the Cyberhome 402. It plays everything (VCD, SVCD, mp3 and DVD+/-R), you can select the region, and disable macrovision. IIRC they are like $50 retail.

Otherwise the JVC XVS300BK. Take a look at the DVD reviews for all to the left (including the cyberhome).

Hey, I got confused now. You are telling that the Cyberhome 402 can be made macrovision free??? I know about Cyberhome 500.
Anyone else tells the opposite about the 402. I've just bought one and I'd like to know if it's really possible to disable MV on the 402. Is it related to changing the output (S-Video, Component Video) or anything like that??

By the way, I saw in some place here a firmware update in the link
    http://freehost04.websamba.com:81/disneyresort/index.htm.
But there is nothing there (no page found). Does someone know if the european updates for the 402 can be used for the american one? If so, can it 'unbreak' the code free? Or a better thing, can it make possible to break the MV on the american models??
Sorry by that, but I don't understand yet how the american version of the Cyberhome 402 can me MV free, as indicated by Vejita-Sama.

Cyberhome support told me that the european 402 is different internally than the U.S. 402. You cannot use european firmware on the U.S. 402.

    Wow! That was a fast.
sorry, but I don't understand yet how the american 402 can be make MV free. What is the hack for that? This is my main interest. Everywhere else tells that it's no possible.

(sorry for my ignorance, but what do u mean by RCA rc5240p? Also, that firmware link (see my other post) is really operating?)

So, is there a MV hack by the remote control? For code free, no problem.
    Thanks again.

The remote hack for macrovision does not work on the U.S 402. Some say the remote hack for the 500 will work on the 402,but I have never been able to get it to work. There is no known macro hack for the U.S. 402 and since non of the gurus seem familiar with Media-Tech firmware there's unlikely to ever be one.
An outboard macro removes like the Sima SCC is the only solution.

OK. I suppose that outboard macro (SIMA SCC) is something for experts in electronics! As I don't have any idea about it (I'm just a 'user'), I'll probably continue with mine MV blocked.

    Anyhow, thanks for the attention!

  12. My movie buddy (next door) has your JVC w/comp output set up in hes garage with an old computer component sound system. Talk about a great cheap set-up. It plays ANYTHING and even plays MP3 CD's. Kinda like an all-in-one A.V. system on the cheap.
