same question as above...are there any dvd players that are capable of playing rmvb or rm files? currently i'm using s-video from my computer to my tv to watch those files...but it's tiring to take the cables and the laptop to every room i use when i watch it....

i know i can convert rmvb to avi...but it takes awhile doesn't it?

Nope. Build/Get a htpc or get a wireless connection between your computer and tv.

  3. And none of the media adapters support it either (eg netgear eva7000, eva 8000)

Real Media quality is often garbage, which is nobody supports it and why nobody who is serious about video quality uses it.

It's been a long time since I messed with RM to AVI conversions, but the few times I did this, the conversion didn't always work and when it failed, you were just out of luck.
