    Read here!

    http://www.tdk-europe.presscentre.com/corp/Releases/release.asp?ReleaseID=1215&NID=Press%20Releases

I really thought it was wired to find Princo disks with TDK ID and poor recording (fail in the end of the disk)

  2. The topic of this post said "TDK says Princo is using its code with authorization". When in fact the article posted above says that Princo and other manufactures are using TDK's code UNauthorized. And TDK does not approve of their using their code.

I edited and corrected the title. Spelling problem, I mean without authorization.

Very interesting posting. At least it exlains my five-in-a-row Princo coasters of last January.

Have been using original TDK media since then and never had a problem.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

    So what?

That is dated 06 December 2002 and is not only old news, but that trademark infringement was dealt with long ago.

It no longer applies (unless you've been hording media for 6 months toa year).

I bought a Princo last week for testing purpouses. Came with this TDK id and failed in the end. Btw, my first Princo (and probably my last) I am going to try a Ritek today.

I purchased the 4x +R disks from Target also when they were on sale and i just had a few questions for some of the people on this board. The disks i have are a light purple/blue bottom and the media ID says RicohJPN. I was just wondering if anyone knew if these were legit disks or if i will have problems with them in the future cuz they're crap disks? if someone could let me know that would be of great help to me. Thanks!

txpharoh, your comments are of no use to me so why don't you keep your 2 cents out. stop TRYING to be moderator and leave that up to the actual moderators. I was just trying to prevent cross listing. I'm sure if i had posted a whole new thread on this you would've told me not to cross-list or to read old posts first. Personally, I've had enough of your crap and thinking you know all when infact you don't. I may not have as many posts as you or others on this forum but i read posts on here many times daily and when i do come across an issue i have i ask and hope that someone would be able to help. Usually the kind people here do a great job at helping or pointing in the right direction. You on the other hand do nothing but find the worst part in a post or find the only negative in a post and comment on it and it's useless. If you don't have any comments towards the actual answer of the post then why even bother replying? If a moderator has a problem with where i posted i'm sure they would let me know and i would gladly repost. Otherwise, since you are not a moderator and you're full of crap in all your posts as stated in a previous thread by another member of this forum, which i agree with completely, then shut up and go back to your "professional business" using only "quality media." You're full of crap and you contradict everything you say every single day and it's crap. Too bad this forum can't ban people like you cuz it would be a much better place here without your useless banter and wannabe moderator. So please never respond to any of my posts again. Thank you.

  11. @TxPharoah, please use the report this post link for similiar issues in the future.

@philly33flyers, irrespective of the rights or wrongs of txpharoah's post, rants like that only stir things up and make things worse. Lets try and stay calm and be pleasant to each other. Even if txpharoah has made a mistake, it is your post that I am tempted to issue a formal warning for.

bugster, i know that things like that only stir things up and if you need to issue a warning to me then that's fine. but i just felt that something needed to be said because txpharaoh has been going on like this for quite some time now and it was just getting old. i apologize for any problems that this has caused you, bugster, or any of the other moderators or operators of this site and if you feel you need to give me a warning then you can go ahead and do it and i'll accept it. but i'm not going to go back on what i said because i know what i said is true. thanks for the reply! and keep up the good work.

Fine by me. It took the same amount of words to 1) say "no hijacking" or 2) report and say "topic being hijacked". I chose the first one. Next time I'll choose the latter since that's what you'd prefer.

As far as me being wrong or contradicting my own posts, I only speak up when I know what I'm saying. (Want an example? I say very little or nothing about iuVCR and subtitles, just two name two things.) And the only "contradictions" are due to the updating/upgrading nature of technology and its daily advances.

hey, there prolly isn't a way to tell if they're legit..i would assume they are. only thing of concern should be if they work or not. maybe to be safe, you could try burning at a lower speed that what's rated... (i.e. it's 4X, but you could burn at 2X or even 1X)

i've been using cheapo 1X princo media and never really had a problem. only 1 disc so far was a coaster. the rest of the screw-ups were completely my fault (i.e. was using the comp and completely frooze on me, which messed up the burn)

poopyhead, i would burn at 4x, but the spindle packaging says that the disks are made for 4x drives only and that there could be data errors or disk damage if used to burn at 2.4x speed. sounds kinda weird cuz i figured that you could never go wrong by burning at lower speeds but i guess that theory is proven wrong by the disclaimer on these disks. but thanks for the advice.
