  1. How do I create my own S/VCD menus from scratch? I'm talking like my own backgrounds, menu item arrangement maybe even a background video loop (like some dvds) and menu background sound.

I've have used Nero (too generic), TV to VCD (or something like that) and it didn't work in my DVD player (Cinevision-shackcrap).

If anyone knows where I can get a recipe to start with, I can disect it, figure out what does what and change it to my liking. (That's how I learned HTML and Java 8) )

Software... I'll entertain that thought but I'd rather figure out the code, you can do more that way.

    Email me the sure thing.

Most of the better authoring apps DON'T create their own menus, they just do the authoring. They instead rely on separate apps to do that: either Photoshop (or similar) to do still menus, and a Video Editing/Compositing app --Premiere,Vegas,AfterEffects,Ulead VSP/MSP, Avid Xpress, etc--to do the moving video menus.
It's extra work with much less hand-holding, but the results are well worth it, in terms of quality, originality, etc.
Once the stills/videos have been created, they should be encoded to MPEG (or MPEG Stills, as the case may be), then imported into the authoring app. Some authoring apps will do that last part of encoding, particulary for stills.

    HTH,
    Scott

  3. Scott--

You are a gentlemen and a scholar. I had the software (Aftereffects) under my nose the whole time and I didn't know it.

If I can help you with anything, let me know.

    Thanks a million!

  5. Once you have all your menus, desired chapter points, videos, etc. ready you want to author with VCDImager. VCDImager is a command line program so most people do not like it It's not that hard to learn but you can find several good GUIs for it: VCDEasy and TSCV are good choices. VCDEasy is much easier to use and is still supported. TSCV is no longer supported but has some really cool features (like making motion chapter selection menus that I still use for me DVDs).

Both can be d/load from http://www.doom9.org and there are guides for both to the left under author and at doom9 as well. Luck...

  6. Hey thanks, Man. I've got VCD Easy and all of it's optional software. I just need to sit down and play around with it to get it to do what I want.

If you guys come across anything else let me know about it and I'll do the same.
