  1. Can anyone recommend a good (or a few) software program for authoring BD-R discs? I have a bunch of one-hour MPEG (ripped from dvd-r/vob files) that I'd like to compile on BD-R discs. I don't need anything elaborate, just simple plain backgrounds would be fine. Each BD-R will have about 10 episodes and I'd like to have no more than two menus with thumbnails....or even two menus with just a text lists (5 per page).

I do not want these re-encoded, so a lossless mpeg to bd-r is a must!

    Thanks in advance.

Maybe multiavchd. It can make a blu-ray from dvd/mpeg2 files without reconverting. BUt it is not longer developed....

    Or tmpgenc authoring works.

I tried multiavchd on XP 64-bit and avsinfo.exe crashed after every click.

I second Baldrick on TMPGENC - have been a user of TMPGENC DVD Author since 1.5. Easy work flow, stable product.

Why would you want to convert your dvd mpeg files to Blu-Ray? You won't get a better video quality if that's what you're looking for. If you just want to store the mpeg files on Blu-Ray Discs and play them on your BD Player, simply burn them with Nero as standard (UDF) Blu-Ray Disc. TMPGEnc Authoring Works, as suggested above, will do the job if you really need to convert the files and insert a menu.

I agree with littlesilly. You won't get a better video quality, why would you want to convert your dvd mpeg files to Blu-Ray?
Why would you want to do this? If it's to save disk space it would be better to convert the files to SD mkv file and author mkv SD to a BD disk. I have all 10 seasons of friends on one BD disk using mutiAVCD. Encore is another package that can work with MPEG or MKV video.
But if your dead set on MPEG video have a look at Sonic DVDit. IMHO it is the easiest package to author BD titles with simple menus.

  7. Is MultiavcHD the only program that doesn't re-encode at this point? Or have others been developed?

I don't think that my answer in this thread https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/341579-Looking-for-a-BD-Authoring-software-that-don...32#post2127232 was more helpful.
