  1. A local vendor is selling the OPTOrite DVD writer DD0203 for $219.00, on line it's available for $199.00. This DVD can write in both +/- same as the Sony's. Has anybody tried out this unit? How does it work? Price wise it sounds great. Check out the link

  2. According to DVDplusRW.org, this is a rebadged Sanyo drive.

It has HD-Burn and 8MB internal buffer. For $199, I think this is a good buy.

  5. The drive probably won't work with older burning software, it usually takes a period of time for the software to be updated for new models.

The software that comes with it will of course work as they made sure of that before shipping it. I say that even though I have the drive in stock to sell here at work.

If my sony were to die, Knock wood, I don't expect that to happen for a long time! I'd probably replace it with this drive... Price is much better and the features look about the same. Cross my fingers that the disks I have will work with it the same as in the Sony.

Just looked inthe Zip Lock bag and it comes with a 4X Taiyo Yuden Blank.
    Sonic & B's software.

OOPps customer just came in, So gotta Go.

    Good Luck

the problem is that only the program that it came with the burner will make it work as a dvd burner if u dont have it the pc will recognice it ass a dvd/cd-r/rw combo
u can useddxcopy xpress to do the back up
but if u use dvdxc... ull have to burn with the burners defaultprogram
it works gooood nice movies and no junk menus
