  1. i have much better apps but i want to make a disc very fast and Ulead is the way. Im making a photo dvd but using the photos as menus and linking them together. i gave it a first play video item (so it has at least one) as well.
It's all set and it goes to build, once it gets to step 4 the 'sorry we have to close this app" screen apeears. Ulead works fine for everything else. Any idea as to what might be wrong??

  2. It might be a flawed installation as this doesn't occur on three systems I'm using.

Which operating system are you using?

I'm running Windows XP and Windows 2000 on my systems.

Have you tried uninstalling and then re-installing?

  3. I'm on XP. the 1.3 i use was an upgrade from the 1.2 ver, not a full 1.3 on it's own. Either way i made some dvds with it very quickly the other day and it worked fine but for some reason on this it is giving me an unexplained error.
i usually use DVD Maestro for everything but on Ulead it has buttons already made and considering im going to be using a bit more then 200 pics, making buttons (or drawing them in) in Adobe photoshop for maestro is not an option. i could use even easier ampps (like magics dvd) but i do not want slide shows i want actual infinite stills
i will try the uninstal and reinstal and see if that works--

  4. no dice after the un/instal it sitll does it. the only possible thing i can think of is that the video intro (first play0 is 720x480 while the actaul pics are 704x480. Otherwise then that i have no idea. i know at times Ulead gets screwy for no apperent reason (such as saying a project will take 14gigs when its no bigger then 4, and no converstion is done). Back to the drawing board--

  5. It's generally not a good idea to mix resolutions in a DVD Workshop project.

Have you tried using a single 720 x 480 image as a test to see if it will work along with the 720 x 480 first play video?

  6. most apps do not get crazy about mixing resolutions, but in my case it's eaiser to resize the first play item then going through and re-sizing the pics. originally this was a vcd project i started a few years back (using video pack 4) and that was the max size i could use for a picture (not video). And for that it was ok. but since having dvd for the past 2 years or so i revived the project. Will re-encode and fix the video size on my first play and try it again---

  7. nope still crashes. I really think its a problem with Ulead (glitch). When i have made bigger projects in it, again it gives false sizes, etc and gives incorrect info. Most of the time when that occurs i scrap it and start over with exactly what i want (not adding then removing any clips) and it goes ok.
For some reason i have noticed with the various vers of Ulead that a lot of times when you get rid of a clip and re-save the new info it still thinks the older info is still there, hence my latest problem. i noticed at step 3 it mentions it is converting the background menu audio, yet their is NO audio for the menus at all. Their was originally for one menu and that was deleted out of the project, but Ulead still thinks it is there.
I just find it annoying to the extent that problems like this occur with it.
Until then i will try to get it out with Maestro instead, just less fancy.
