  1. I have 2 vob's and I can't figure out how to burn them. I have no ifo files. All I want is to be able to put the DVD in and have it play! I tried the tools section of ffmpegX. That gave me an ifo file of 0kb's and a vob file of 0kb's. I've been looking around but I haven't found an answer. Oh and one movie has subtitles that I need but I would like to at least be able to burn them before I figure that out.

    Thanks for any input!

  2. You don't need to look any further than Sizzle (http://thegoods.ath.cx/~hmason/sizzle/). It has everything you need for what you want to do. I could go into the process, but it's extremely easy to pick up just by looking at it for a minute or two. Just input your vobs, create you chapters (If you so desire), hit the start button and it will produce a .img file that can be used in any burner. It even has the subtitle support you need. All very easy stuff.

  3. Oh yeah I forgot about that one. I tried it and got this message, "An error occured while (re-)multiplexing. Make sure all program streams have DVD NAV sectors". I'm not sure what this means. I need to put in chapter markers I guess?

    Any Ideas?

Thanks for your reply Mr Mxyzptlk!

    Do you have Virtual PC?
ive been trying a 2 dvd to 1 dvd method using a pc app called IFO EDIT

it reads your .vob's and makes a complete set of .ifo and .bup files.

    works nicely

if you have virtual pc, you can use that, its really ease

open it, choose CREATE IFO, find your folder with .vob;s make sure they are named in order VTS_01_01.vob and VTS_01_02.vob if you only have 2

when its done, then click GET VTS SECTOR, answer yes to all and your done.

  5. Thanks for the response Galactica. I tried what you suggested and I guess somehow I have a bad vob file. I can play it fine with VLC and QT6(with no audio) but when I try to make an ifo with it I get complaints of NAV data not being present. I ripped these files with 0SEx before I knew anything about DVD's. Well I still don't know much but I know not to rip as I did. So now I'm trying to add this NAV data. I don't even really know what that is or if I can but dang it...there's got to be a way of salvaging these files.

Soooo...Is there any way to repair a vob file. Any utility to check the integrity of vob's? Any way to add NAV data?

Thanks for past and future input!

Not sure, other than demuxing it, remuxing and reauthoring as .vob with ffmpegx.
    never done that myself.

I usually get an error after IFO EDIT reads the .vob's (something about file size unexpected) but if you just disreguard it you will note the files play fine.

I've gotten this error. When you rip with OSEx you need to go into the options and check off the option to keep the NAV packs. Then Sizzle will work fine.

  8. Thank you Macnewbie. Now I know what went wrong originally. I wonder why that is disabled by default?

Well Galactica, I did try demuxing then remuxing but I loose the alternate audio tracks and the subtitle tracks. Although Sizzle does burn an image now! At this point I guess that's the best I will get. I've invested too much time trying to figure this out but now I do know more than I did before

    Thanks!

P.S. For future reference if anybody does know how to restore the NAV Packs/Data I would really like to know.

You know, ive only ever demux/remux when there was a single audio track, so I can see now why that can be a problem!!! Sorry.
