I have some Tapes (VHS) and i want to put
them onto a vcd. Is this possible and if so what
hardware/software do i need???

vid-cap hardware (video card without macrovision) and an mpg-encoder. And of course a burner.
hookup the vcr to the video-input of your video card and record with virtualdub, edit and then encode when your done. poof you have a vcd!
