  1. Hi, I made several VCDs following the Nero guide at https://www.videohelp.com/nero.htm but my DVD player keeps giving me the "No Disc" error. It plays fine using a standard VCD player on my computers, though. I have a Panasonic DVD player from the U.S.A., if that helps any. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? If not, anything else I can use to make VCDs that DVD players would be able to play? Thanks.

Try DVD2SVCD (Guides to the left<) DVDx2.2, one of my fave quickie progs, guides to the left <, many other progs, again, guides to the left <. Find the one that gives you your desired quality, learn it, and use it. I am watching a DVDx 2.2 result right now, and am very happy with it. I also have the same movies done in DVD2SVCD, and am happy with them.

BTW, check the guides to the left to see if your machine CAN play VCDs. Many can't.

  4. Oh, I've played several other VCDs on the DVD player I speak of. But I'll try the stuff you suggested. Thanks again.

If it says "No Disc" there has to be a media problem. Slow down your burning speed and/or try different media

Try using the free VCDEasy tool to create your VCD image and then burn the image through NERO.

  7. The problem is most likely as what RoopeT stated.

Many (older) Panasonic DVD players are not designed to read CD-R/W discs (whether they be audio CD, VCD or SVCD) and will not do so well.

If you VCD players on a stand-alone VCD player, it is very likely that the disc itself is fine (though I do recommend you use VCDEasy over Nero in terms of VCD authoring capabilities).

    Your options are to
    (1) buy a new DVD player (and make sure that it is designed to read CD-R/W discs -- almost all new ones are)
    (2) experiment with different brands of CD-R/W media till you find one that works. CD-RW often works better on older DVD players.

    Regards.
