I am backing up a dvd disk recorded from HS2 using a pioneer DVD burner DVR-A103 with recordnow max software, i thought it's simple and it should works but it doesn't. Have anyone try this before? Please share your experience.
Thanks alot

I'm pretty new to DVD burning, but I have a setup similar to your's so I thought I'd share my experience. I have:
DMR-HS2
DVR-A05
RecordNow Max
I have successfully copied a DVD-R that I recorded on HS2 using RecordNow disk-to-disk copy function.
Also, I have succesfully used DVD Shrink to make 1:1 backup on hard drive. Rip backup files into a sub-directory named VIDEO_TS, then burn entire sub-directory onto DVD-R as Data using RecordNow.
Don't know if this is much help, but at least I can tell you it can be done. (Also, make sure DVD is "finished" in HS2 before trying to make copy.) -
Dinhle,
What elkfir meant by "finished" was to be sure you "finalize" the disc in the HS2 before you try to copy it on your PC. That will close it out and not allow anymore data to be written to it. This process is also necessary to allow the disc to be recognized/played in standalone DVD players.
Good Luck

Thanks ncgoldwinger, yes "finalize" is what I should have said. I'm at work now so I had to rely on my very feeble memory

I've had problems when using my PC to copy discs that were originally recorded on my DMR-E20 or HS2
The discs will play if you press play a couple of times but the menu wont come up. -
Don't know if you're trying to copy a DVD-RAM disc or a DVD-R disc made from your HS2, but your DVR-A103 burner can't read DVD-RAM.

Thanks all 4 your replies but i have to mention these
1. all my dvd-r recorded from HS2 have been finnalized
2. I have one DVD-Rom/rewrite so i can't use disk to disk copy function.
3. Why do i have to rip to VIDEO_TS folder? Can i just copy whole VIDEO_TS folder to a hard drive and burn it from there?
4. I don't copy from DVD-RAM. My computer can't read ram
5. All DVDs i tried to copy are non-encripted.
6. I use data disk copy function from Recordnow max with new volume setting but still not working.
If you have more thoughts on this subject please let me know. I am running out of ideas. Thanks again all 4 your help.

Dinhle,
You should still be able to use item 2 with only one DVD drive. The Disk Copy function will create a temporary image on your hard drive, then will prompt you to remove source disk and replace with writable disk, whereupon it will then copy temporary file from hard drive to new destination disk. So far, I've only tried this once with disk I finalized in HS2, but it did work.
As for item 3, I don't have a good answer for you (as I'm still newby at this), but but based on guides I've found on this and other sites, ripping to hard drive is really easy with various freeware programs. -
Elkfir,
I will try option 3 and let u know if it works or not. I have freeware that can rip to a hard drive then burn it from there but i don't think it's necessary. If i run out of option i will try anything that work. Thanks 4 your replies.
