i just got my dvd-rw installed and running last night, have yet to try it out... but trying to do some research on best to to get the best quality today.... then gonna go home and have fun....

anyway, i have a 2 year old son and he has stratched many of my xbox games beyond able to play again.... so i was wondering with the new technology of the dvd burners.... is it possible to backup my xbox games so I have a spare? i heard you could do it with a cdr but you had to sodder some wires or something inside the machine.... well i dont wanna do all that... if its possible to just use a program or 2 and burn a copy of xbox games... then thats cool, if not... i wont worry about it... i just heard from someone that the games from factory are DVDs and not CDs... so thought i would ask... thanks

    Scott,

I have an X-Box also and from what I've heard, the games are DVDs.

But, I think in an effort to prevent copying and pirating of the games, Microsoft has the DVDs recorded backwards, in the opposite direction normal DVDs are recorded/played at.

Does anyone have anything to back me up on this

  3. you need a modchip to play the copyed games back, you can copy them but you need the modchip installed for that too. you have to copy the games from the xbox to your computer through a ftp.you can get modchips that dont require sodering.

  4. Well, if you knew someone with a modified xbox already, you could just flash your onboard TSOP. Also some games can fit on cdr, the problem is the xbox's dvdrom was desigend not to read them, so you could put them on cdrw, and the load times are horrible. So, going to DVDR is the best course of action.
