I can't open files with tmpgenc

Iv'e got a few avi's on my hard disk ready for vcd conversion, however everytime i try to open one of the files in tmpgenc i get the message

File "C:\My Shared Folder\ Disney-the beauty and the beast.avi" can not open or unsupported.

All of the files open and play ok in windows media player. I recently had to re-format my hard drive, obviously i downloaded tmpgenc again, along with the divx, xvid, and ac3 codecs. Obviously i'm doing something wrong somwhere question is what? Have i forgotten to download another codec or plug-in?

Try opening them in VirtualDub, and if it works, you can use it to Frameserve the AVI's into TMPGEnc.

Another option is to increase the Multimedia Filter Reader in TMPGEnc's Environmental settings to the highest level.
