  1. First things first i really tried to look for any info about this topic unsuccessfully so sorry i had to create a new topic about this

My beef is with movies that have trailers or some video preview run before the menu ie. Disney Movies and some FOX (look our dvds are cool ads) trailers. I got myself a retail copy of Treasure Planet and would like to backit up sans extras but with the movie and menu intact.
    1. How do i remove these trailers off the first boot of the dvd without crashing the my player? Is there a guide out there u can kindly direct me too?
    2. How do I remove those THX certification movies that play before the movie without crashing the dvd-r disc?

    I create my backups with
Instant Copy 7 or Shrink 2.0 if i dont need to compress the movie
After that i touch it up with menuedit to take out buttons that are not needed because of the removed extras. Image it and burn

I know i can remove the those aforementioned trailers and extras with instantcopy but i am thinking that there woudl be a big chance that my movie will not work properly if i do it this way

So im stuck here right now. And hope that someout there can assist me or direct me to a guide that teach me

    Thanks

  2. Removing extra with IC7 will crash the DVD.

    You need to use IFOedit.

  3. I'm not sure if this is the correct way to do it, but it worked for me on several DVD's. If you have any questions about this, just let me know.

This Keeps the Menu, but Jumps Past FBI Warnings, etc. and goes straight to the Menu

    - Run IfoEdit
    - Open VIDEO_TS.IFO
    - Look in the top window
    - Go to VMGM_MAT > First Play PGC

    - Look in the lower window
    - Go to "PGC Command Table" > "Pre Command"

    - Right Click and select "Delete Command" to delete the entries that don't have Jump in them.

    - Right Click and click "Edit Command" to change to "(JumpSS_VMGM) Jump to VideoManager Menu" and select "Title-Menu" to go straight to the menu (no FBI Warnings, etc.)

You might also want to check out the site below if you want to remove these items instead for better compression.

  4. Another kindof cheesy way that sometimes work without actually deleting the commands is to look at the number of PreCommands and PostCommands - add the number of PostCommands to the PreCommands and set the PostCommands to 0.

This usually works for me (it makes all of the commands that run after the trailers run before the trailers instead, and since one of those commands must jump to the menu - voila).....

  5. IFOEdit would be my first choice, but DVDShrink 2.0 might be just as easy as the newest verison has a preview window so you can see what you are removing.

Just delete the parts you do not want, and set the remaining to 'no compression.' You can d/load DVDShrink 2.0 at:

  6. Treasure Planet ! Tell me about it !

Are all Disney DVD's like this ? All those warnings and trailers, ridiculous.

What I did was use SmartRipper to decrypt the movie's VOB files and also copied across the relevant IFO and BUP files.

I then used IFOedit to strip the streams and rebuild the IFO files, giving me just the movie only. The original has been put somewhere safe and I'll let the little monsters use the movie only disc - which is good, because I'm pig sick of Finding Nemo, Stitch and the rest of the cobblers on that disc already !

  8. I would use DVDshrink and just re-author the DVD files.

  9. Tim254, so far your method has worked for me fine but with one hitch a video thats connected and related to the main menu is cut out too, any ideas how i can still retain this. Your method works fine for still looking menus but its not really ok for me if becuase i am doing it also to my retail copy of moulin rouge

Yes, like Bob said, use DVD Shrink 2.0. Downloaded it last night, figured out how to use it in less than 5 minutes to back-up my South Park 1st season and now Band Of Brothers series. Simple and straight forward. This program is a jewel for those disks with multiply shows. Give it a try.

Since I figured this out via trial and error, I would test only deleting the first command and see what happens, leaving the second one ... and so on. Test every step and view it in your DVD software player. Also, I read about someone entering in "NOP" via "Edit command" instead of deleting the commands. If you have any other DVD's doing this, let me know ... I'd like to test it out (I don't have Moulin Rouge).
