I don't have the "audio/video in" jacks on my vcr or my tv, so I have to use a different chord than the one that came with my PS2(the 1 video chord and 2 audio chords). The chord I use now goes from my PS2 to the back of my tv ("cable in" jack).

I wanted to play my PS2 in stereo, I hooked up my PS2 to my VCR "cable in" jack, and my vcr "cable out" jack to my tv, while the vcr "audio out" jacks connect to my stereo (yes, I have "audio out" jacks, but not "audio in" jacks on my vcr. go figure).

So, this method works in that I can play my PS2 in stereo. Here's the problem:
The picture I get has white lines that move from top to bottom of the screen periodically. The way I solve this problem is by pressing the "tv/vcr" button on my vcr, then the picture is clear.
Normally, I would just continue to press the "tv/vcr" button for a clear picture, but I have another problem.

I have a dvd player, and I had to buy a box (I dunno the tech name for it) to watch dvds because my tv does not have video/audio in jacks. So, I connect DVD player chords>> box>> tv "cable in" jack to watch dvds. That works fine, however, I want to record some of my bootleg dvds (without security device)and vcds onto vhs for my friend who does not have a dvd player.

So, I connect DVD player >> box >> vcr "cable in" and start recording. This works, but I still get the same white lines that I get from my PS2. If I press "tv/vcr" the lines go away on my tv, but they are still there on the vhs tape.

What causes these lines, and is there a way to get rid of them?
