i just started using Ulead DVD Movie Factory for svcd's. i wanted to add background music from the beginning of a movie (Galaxy Quest) to the menus i created. i still have the source avi and i also have the mpeg file after converting with tmpg. what would be the best way to pull the 15-20 seconds of music i want from the avi/mpeg. can i use mp3 or wav with Ulead for the menu background music? and while we're at it, can i import my own images for the menu background (jpeg, bmp, etc.)?

  2. I don't use Ulead so this is a little more general. Menus are really nothing more another MPEG file (either motion or still). Just encode the menu as normal (it appears you did so w/ TMPGenc) but add the desired audio source.

Once you have the MPEG with your menu you can load it in Ulead and author as desired (at least this is how I do it with TSCV/VCDEasy )

thanks vejita, but i'm looking for help from somebody that uses Ulead DVD Movie Factory since it sounds like it's a little different than what you're using.

for the background music part of the question, i thought i could
    1) extract audio from the avi in vdub, save as wav
    2) convert the wav to mp3
    3) split the mp3 for the 10-15 seconds of audio that i need
    4) import my 10-15 seconds of mp3 file into Ulead for the background music.

seems like a lot of steps. anybody have another way?

  5. you can use wav files in moviefactory why make mps and degrade the music. extract the audio in vdub or the prog of your choice. cut it up the size you like and save as a wav then on the add background music to this menu selction at the bottom just add the wav

  6. You can get a ton of free music from FreePlayMusic.com. I downloaded them all in MP3 format. I filled up three CD ROMs with them. They're also available in wave if you prefer. Each clip comes in one minute and shorter lengths. If I remember correctly, they come in 60 to 10 second lengths in 10 sec intervals.
