I have an alot of avi animated shorts that i would like to put on dvd. I use tmpge for my encodeing to mpeg2 for dvd. One of my friends told me that VBR is not as good as CBR when doing animation in tmpge. Something to do with motion dection and the way it reads animation different. I was just wondering if anybody agree's with this or is he just full of it?

i do know that tmpgenc includes a filter for animation only so it must be something different about it.

I know there is a animation setting in the quantize matrix tab. But from what i have read you should still just use the default setting.
