The newbie guide mentions to use the analog signal-to-tape capture capability of a DV camera. If I use the analog signal-to-tape capture capability of my DV camera to record VHS tapes to a Hi8 tape, will this new Hi8 tape give me a better quality picture than the original VHS tape.
My ultimate goal, like many other people on these forums, is to transfer my VHS tapes to DVD. I'm just wondering if I first transfer the VHS tape to a Hi8 tape if this will give me a better quality media .
Thanks.
By the way, I am a total newb.

Your Hi8 tape will only be as good as the original VHS tape. Recording it to the Hi8 will allow you not lose any quality and thus bring it into your computer with the best possible quality. Hope this helps.
