Appreciate if anyone can help me on this.

The VCDs that i create are not playing on my Sony DVD player (DAV-S300). It shows "no disc" on the player.

    FYI
I am using the following hardware:
    a. PIII 800MHZ(intel), 160MB RAM, 20GBHDD, Live Soundcard,
    b. DVCII (by dazzle) for capturing...with Movie Star software
    c. ACER CDR-WR for writing/burning on CDRs
    d. Nero for creating the VCDs (using the wizard to create VCDs)

I capture the videos by using the VCD template available in the provided software (Movie Star), then produce the captured mpg into VCD format , then finally use Nero for burning on the Acer writer.

Eagerly waiting to hear from you....

  2. It sounds like a media compatibility problem... If you burn an audio CD on the same brand of CD-R, does that play in your DVD player?

Try another brand of CD-R media or CD-RW media.

  3. I have exactly the same problem with a Sony DVPS335
The laser will not read any CDR media i have tried regardless of what is burned on it Audio or Video.Sony tech line state that CDR`s & CDRW`s do not reflect enough light for the laser to read them.If you find out anything else please let me know.
    Regards

  5. I have the same player. I think you have a media problem, Sony will play only CD-RWs properly and not all CDRs.

Many thanks to all who have contributed towards this and helped me resolve this problem.

I have finally made a vcd on a CD-RW (ACER) and is now working fine with my DVD player.

So you copied your other cd-r's to Acer cd-rw and it works fine wtih your Sony DVD player now? I have a Sony DVP-7000 and someone made some vcd's for me on cd-r media and it will play the picture but no sound. It works fine on my computer though and my friend said it worked fine on his Panasonic DVD player. I was just wondering if I copied the vcd's to some other cd-rw's if it would work? Any thoughts?

  8. Try the princo cd-r or the sony cd-rw those have worked on mine, although some of the princo vcds that i made became coasters. All of the sony cd-rw vcds have been good
