  1. Man, I know i've given props to these sites because they've done me right, but I am pretty pissed that they've inflated their price considerabley on the ACCU disks. I can understand a few cents here and there, but to overnight inflate the price up from $84.00/100 pack to $99.00/100 pack is ridiculous. That's why I just stocked up on those "Branded" Mistubishi Verbatim disks for a little more then $1 a piece.

At any rate, if you go to BOTH sites and look at the 500 pack of the new ACCU 4X disks, meritline has them for $625, while cdrdvdrmedia.com has them for a WHOPPING $100 more, @ $725.00!!!

is there really ANY explanation for this?? Even though cdrdvdrmedia.com has free shipping...it damn sure doesn't come to $100!

    here's cdrdvdrmedia.com's link..scroll to the bottom..the 500 pack spindle is $725!

    Now here's Meritline's link.....

    http://www.meritline.com/neac1x2x4xdv.html $100 cheaper!

  2. ALSO NOTICE THAT THE ORDER NUMBER IS EXACTLY THE SAME FOR BOTH SITES.....SO THEY MUST BE THE SAME DISKS!...UNREAL......INFLATING THEIR PRICE LIKE THAT.....BASTARDS!

  3. Also incase you didn't know they are both the same exact company. I've ordered from both of them. Checked them out at the Better Buisness Bureau, same people. Even their websites look the same. They also did the same thing with riteks a while back. I was getting them for 90 cents a piece or lower then they went up to $1.30. I checked a lot of other sites and everyones prices went up, I guess it was riteks fault. They're probably ******* with you but you should check other sites, as with the riteks the company may have started to charge more.

Media Price increases ?, SO YOU REALLY WANNA KNOW ?.

For the 8 months prior to April 2003 media prices were tumbling at a phenomenal rate, and had reached an all time low.
All manufacturers were basically losing money on every disc, but continued to sell in order to maintain market share and at least pay for machinery investment.

So you had 5 or 6 Taiwanese manufacturers of DVDR and CDR going head to head on pricing, you had a huge explosive market that was sucking up supply, faster than could be produced.
Finally in April, amid rumors of war, Oil prices, plastic prices and transportation prices rose. The result...immediate effect on media prices, which are dependant on all the above.
    Media manufacturers increased their pricing.
At first slightly, later ,more bold increases.
2 things made this possible : customer loyalty due to compatability, and market demand.
Simple supply and demand...for the past 3 months it has been difficult, to say the least, to get hold of product like Ritek, Accu and even BeAll.

Market demand keeps sucking it all up, faster than containers can ship.
And as you economic experts out there know, higher demand with less supply = higher prices. (It's Whatever the market can bear.)
Many major brands are also having their media made by the same manufacturers that make media that are sold through the online stores.
The volume required from these major brand names (like Apple) is so significant, that it almost halts the (Taiwanese) manufacturer's ability to supply other re-sellers. Hence shortages, and hence price spikes, and more specifically , hikes (yikes).

We are slowly back on track, we believe that July will see a slow return to
pricing stability and decreases. Not as sharp as before, but a steady decline, until we get to the sub $0.50 disc which I predict will be in mid 2004.

  5. That still doesn't explain why you are charging a difference of over $100 between your main company and your sister company.

  7. @meritline, as I've said, I have been a firm supporter of BOTH sites....however, I also am aware prices increase. I am not naive and live in a fantasy world, however, I do question the considerable "AMOUNT" they have increased. That is my feeling, and that is why I didn't make my last purchase from either site. People like me will get that supply and demand curve back in check real quick.

Thank you, this was my REAL CONCERN & being that the prices have been amended, I will sit back and wait until more people post their results with the ACCU 4X, but if there are no problems, then it looks like it will be an order of 500 for me.

The price increases in DVD media are nothing compared to the price swings that I have seen in DRAM. The worst case was back around 1988, when the U.S. imposed trade sactions on Japanese DRAM. The price went up by a factor of 10 overnight. I knew several people who got rich smuggling DRAM into the U.S.

The good news here is that prices and availability should stabilize soon.

meritline operates on pretty low margins - same as a lot of memory suppliers .. because of this , prices will swing sometimes a lot (from one container to the next) ..

buy your disks at target or officedepot instead , where they have high enough margins to absorb price flux. a bit more before changing thier prices.

just ordered another 500 dvd-r riteks from Meritline..

I have used the silvers and the whites. The whites look better and are good for future when I do get a CD/DVD printer. I like the silvers though because they have free shipping if you get with combo (disks and cases)

  13. With any product, prices are going to fluctuate at some time. Whether they increase or decrease are dependant on many factors (Obviously.) When a price increases and increases significantly, someone can always argue on either side of the spectrum. You can support the price increase or not support it. They question I had wasn't as simple as basic economics...it was questioning whether the price increase was justified.

However, as I mentioned a couple of times, my "main" concern was with the huge discrepency on price of the same ACCU disks being sold for $100 more at Cdrdvdrmedia.com then they were at Meritline. "Meritline" recognized the issue and handled it. That is all I could ask for, and it was handled in a very timely and professional fashion.
