    Dear Sir/Madam,

I copied about 20 of my favorite VCD .Dat files onto my new harddrive for easier storage, but I found out that the movies become very small when viewing on the computer monitor using Windows Media Player. How can I view movies at normal size on through the computer and computer monitor?

Also, is it possible to copy the .Dat file from my computer back onto CD ROM and view it using my VCD machine with standard TV set?

Many thanks for anyone that can help.

    Regards,
    Casey (Hong Kong)

  2. Caseychu,

You can use VCDGear to change your .DAT files back to .MPEGs, and from there you can use VCDEasy to make your VCD.

As for the problem with files playing small, I am afraid I don't know the answer. Maybe Windows Media Player might play the MPEGs you make from the DAT files correctly.

https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=vcdgear#comments - this is the link to the VCDGear download.

    Hope this helps!

They play small because Windows Media Player is showing you the actual 100% resolution that a standard VCD is encoded at. ie Pal 352 x 288 pixels. Because your monitor is most likely set to something a lot higher, possibly 1024 x 768, your pictures appears small. Whilst playing with media player, right click on the picture and select fullscreen. Performance will be determined by your system, not a good one for slower systems. Use latest drivers for your video card and DirectX 9.

Hope that clears it up a little.

For best quality change your monitor resolution to as low as possible, 640x480, if you are going to play in full screen.
