  1. RecordNow was included with the software that came with my DVD+R writer.

I have been using DVDShrink 1.03 and burning with RecordNow but I was wondering what the difference is between RecordNow & RecordNow Max so I could decide if I need to upgrade.

    Thanks

  2. Why not just visit their site and find out?

  3. Actually, I have already been to the site you recommended but it doesn't contain any info on RecordNow (that I can find anyway).

The Readme file that was included with the software isn't very informative and the manual is all but nonexistant.

I figured out how to burn the proper folders to a blank DVD+R after reading some posts and guides in here about Nero and I adapted the procedure to work with RecordNow.

What I really want to know is if the quality of my DVD+R would be enhanced in any way by upgrading to RecordNow Max.

    Thanks...

  4. RNM is the higher end recording product by STOMP.....DX will suffice depending on what you are doing. I can't give RNM enough praise because it has NEVER done me wrong in hundreds of burns.....if you have had success with DX, then there is no reason to fix something that isn't broken.

No way! Burner software merely facilitates the transfer of files to a recordable media. It does not change them in any way.

  6. Have any of you guys seen RNM start the burn process, only to fail as soon as it starts to hit the blank? I usualy get some kind of error that seems to be total giberish. I am, however, able to burn plain cd-r media w/o issues on this drive.

I have been using dx for about 4 month now with cheap comp usa
brand dvd-r media. I've burned about 30 discs without problem
until recently. I have been geting the same error message that
you stated in your other post. I have found that by using the
wizard that it is working but I still get the error if I close
the wizard and click on the data button to burn. I have a feeling
that it is some kind of driver issue but I am going to do more
research. Until then, try using the wizard and add you video_ts
    folder from there.

For everyday bruning the dx version works fine. I've never
had any issues except shose previously stated.
On the other hand the MYDVD software sux (IMO) takes forever
to author a dvd unless everything is in perfect spec.

I used to get this until I switched media.

I have had this happen too. RNM appears to start the burn than gives a error message. The problem would not go away even after a reboot.

I have found that if I use the "Get VTS sectors" feature of ifoedit (load all of the IFOs and press the "Get VTS sectors" button) authoring errors are found and corrected. This has solved the problem every time I have gotten this kind of fault.

I assume RNM is smart enough to detect the authoring errors. I just wish the error message was a little more descriptive.

    Hope this helps.

Yes, that is true...I don't even breathe when my disks are burning...shit...I can hold my breath for upwards of 30 minutes...shouldn't that be a record?

As far as that error you guys are receiving goes...wot_fan pretty much said it...that error is usually when you try to burn a disk and forget to get VTS_SECTORS...if anything RNM helps you by allowing you to realize your mistake and PRESERVE your precious media...as opposed to other burning programs which will start the burn...screw up your media....and then give errors afterwards...

  16. On mY P4-2.53GHz system I often surf the web while burning with RecordNow Max and so far have never had a single problem.

Surfing the web isn't really a hard disk grueling task....and I usually multi-task when doing just about anything...EXCEPT BURNING...but that is my personal choice....the process is just too sensitive and I prefer to not conflict in any way with the burn process. I have a P4, 2.4 ghz, overclocked at 2.93 ghz, and I still choose not to even think about any other computer task while burning disks.

Only on cheap a$$ Accu/LD/Comp-USA media have I gotten this error with RNM. Called support and they backed that up. Their advise was to stay away from that brand. Never gotten the error on Verbatim, Sony, Fuji in literally 100's of burns thus far.
