Hi, I've been converting divx, xvid etc to svcd for a while now, so I thought i'd upgrade to dvd, as far as i can make out from the guides the process isn't that different that it is with SVCD.
Am i right in saying that if want to make a dvd with ac3 sound, i can extract the ac3 track froma divx with virtual dub (using direct stream i presume) the fix it with ac3fix, convert the video only in TPMGenc and then use the two files to author a dvd?
Also is it possible to convert a stereo track off of an avi and convert the audio into ac3 with besweet or hav i lost the plot here.
Cheers
Phil

No that's pretty much it. Remember to encode a DVD standard resolution thou (720x480, 352x480 or 352x240).
Once you have the elementary streams (m2v and ac3 files) you'll need to author the DVD (generate the VOB and IFO files). There are a lot of programs that can do this (look to the left under author).
Freeware wise, if all you want is a movie (no menus, extras, special tracks, etc) IFOEdit works fine.
