  1. Hello,

I am attempting my first video capture of an old video and I was wondering does anyone have any suggestions as to the best programs and settings to use in the capture. I am also wondering what codec I should be looking at installing (I currently have DivX 5.05).

Also does anyone have any settings (encode type, size, bitrate etc) that they have found is useful in getting good quality from analogue videos using a Leadtek card (but others should work too)

The format I am wanting is primarily VCD, but I also want to catch to a higher resolution (two separate captures) for editing and future use (when DVD burners become cheaper)

I live in Australia so we are PAL

    Thank you

the best codecs which work with tv2000 i know of are:
    1. huffy - free, but has choppy playback
    2. picvideo mjpeg - ~ $20, 19/20 qulity setting, IMO the best codec
    3. divx @ 10 mbps is also good and compresses very well, but I don't use it because it is difficult to edit produced avi file in vdub.
