  1. I've read numerous posts about the Macrovision "white bar" syndrome here. It seems that bar is constant throughout the movie in these posts. However, mine is not. It only shows up once in a blue moon, maybe 4 or 5 times per hour of video. It seems to always pop up during an abrupt transition in the movie and remains until the next transition. I also experimented with rewinding or fast forward while previewing, and the bar will usually pop up and not disapper until I play again and it hits a transition.

I have installed TVTool and turned Macrovision off. This does not solve the problem. Before I try stepping back to WDM 1.08 (I'm using Asus v8200 T2), does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I can do? Every time I try screwing with any kind of driver for the Asus card, I have nothing but problems. Asus motherboards seem to have similar driver issues as well. Bout sick of Asus, even though they provide lots of features, speed, etc. Anyway, I digress.

  2. Oh, I failed to mention. This happens during the previews too. I was under the impression that only the movie was encoded with Macrovision.

It works fine. Except when the VHS is damaged or very worn. Then the Macro still shines through.

NOT endorsing the site. Did NOT buy it there.

  5. There are some patches that tell the capture card to not read the macro. I only believe one type of card has this patch. I don't remember which it is.
