just to show that u can get decent rip speeds on a pioneer 105 which is
useful if u want to keep a dedicated cd-rw as your second drive.

At the risk of looking like I've missed something obvious here: what's the 2.1x barrier? Does it just apply to that drive?
I was just going to say, I have an older (two years) NEC DVD drive that rips happily at 3-3.9x and a split new Pioneer (that fancy slot-loading one) that rips at 8-9x.
Both are using default drivers and firmware.
Have I got the wrong end of this stick here?
