I have a question on DVDshrink. The other day i was backing up Harts War. I wanted the movie only on dvdr. I ripped the movie files to a folder. I then used DVDshrink to reencode it on a dvdr. It showed that it needed Level5 even after unticking the other audios from the customized streams. I canceled all that and used Ifoedit to strip the extra audios then back to DVDshrink. It now showed Level 2. Why isnt DVDshrink readjusting if i remove some streams?

  2. I found DVDShrink to have a lot of shortcomings. I don't recommend using it. The quality was lousy for starters. I recommend the following for long movies:

DVD2One - All around good app and doesn't waste any DVD-R space. Well worth the money

Pinnnacle Instant Copy - For more difficult shrinking (ie. compress extras to max but leave movie less compressed).

DVDXpress - Supposed to be good quality but VERY limited. Will only copy movie and 1 audio track. I don't even think it will copy subtitles. I wouldn't waste your money.

    Hope that helps you.

Well i didnt like DVD2one for long movies cause it pixelated the movies on me. Also made it freeze on my home player.

  4. Wow I have not seen that one before. DVD2one may pixelate movies that are long or have a bunch of extras. It doesn't let you select which titles you want to compress more/less. That's why I use Pinnacle IC for that.

As far as it locking up your player, that can be a lot of things. Media, DVDDEcryptor, shrink software, burning software. Be sure you are burning with Nero in UDF or ISO/UDF format. That may help. I have not seend DVD2One cause any incompatibilities and I have tested it a lot.

I did find one movie that I could not copy with any shrink software. It was a Rolie Polie Olie movie for my son. I was only able to copy the movie only. Disney really does a number on their DVD's.
