I live in Brazil, and here we used the pattern NTSC for VCD, the problem is that need to codify a mpeg1 for the format VCD for playing in Europe in computers PC, and DVD player. I need 100% of certainty that VCD will play. How do I do? Use Adobe Premiere and Tmpeg.
Did changing the resolution of 352X240 for 352X288 only solve already, is simply that, and do I have a video in PAL?![]()

Most European DVD players will play NTSC or PAL disks but use TMPGEnc,VCD(PAL) setting to be sure.
A PC will play any VCD format. -
You will never get 100% certainty that your VCD will play in all european DVD players. A lot of players wont play VCD or CDR. Likelyhood is though if it is played in a player that is VCD and CDR compatible in europe than that player will be able to handle both PAL and NTSC formats.

as far as i was aware in the UK (so i assume the rest of europe) that in order to be labelled as "VCD compaitible" or "DVD compatible" it needs to play both video formats? moviegeek is right on the PC front.

Though, while the standard tv-pattern is PAL - most dvd-players both accepts PAL and NTSC - though this is not enough. The TV must be able to play NTSC as well (as far as I know, only the more expensive models do so).
So contact your people for who the vcd is ment for. If they can assure that their TV can play NTSC, then you better stay with NTSC (so you keep the original quality). -
Also, since VCD (2.0) supports both NTSC and PAL together on one disc, you could put both the original and a converted version onto a single VCD. Now it's just a matter of knowing if the users' players will accept CD-R/W.
If you do the conversion, read up on guides about how to conver NTSC->PAL. There are both good and bad ways to do this.

Hello
Check out this website page:
http://www.geocities.com/xesdeeni2001/StandardsConversion/
This website tells you how to convert a VCD from PAL to NTSC and vice versa. It is a GREAT site that I highly recommend for anyone wanting to do such conversions (it also has info on doing DVD conversions as well ... not just VCD).
Hope this helps

P.S.
I don't know how you can put both NTSC and PAL on a single CD-R disc but consider this ... CD-R discs are fairly cheap so you can always send tihs person 2 CD-R discs ... one in NTSC and one in PAL so they have a choice. If they think one format works better than the other then you know to only send that kind in the future. In fact if they (hopefully) find that the NTSC version works for them then you won't ever have to do the PAL conversion again for this person (assuming you might do further trades or whatever in the future)."The eyes are the first thing that you have to destroy ... because they have seen too many bad things" - Lucio Fulci
