Think you just need to copy the files into the nero directory, then just select video cd from nero and place the AVI file into nero burner.

The quality it poor just like a vcd.

PS Before nero burns the cd you can see the AVI to MPEG conversion.

Hope this helps it not send me a mail.

  3. Call me stupid but according the Nero's website the MPEG2 plugin still isn't available. The convertor build into Nero is just a MPEG1.
You can burn SVCD's with NEro but you have to create the mpeg file with TMPGenc first.

The MPEG2 plugin will let you convert any non MPEG2 file to a compliant MGPEG2 format so it will act as a sort of TMPGenc but I'm afraid with less quality

The MPEG2 plugin was leaked, see http://www.cdfreaks.com/news2.php3?ID=2651
The two DLL's must be copied to Nero's program folder, usually "c:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero".

With the MPEG2 plugin installed you can make SVCD's by selecting "Super Video CD" in Nero, and dragging an AVI movie to the track window. Nero will encode the AVI to MPEG2 before burning.

As a test I tried to convert a fragment of a DivX movie to SVCD. Encoding to MPEG2 and burning went without problem, but when playing with WinDVD it appears that the aspect ratio is lost. The dimension of the source AVI was 640x384. When playing the AVI with Windows Media Player or MicroDVD player black bars are added to top and bottom. However Nero's MPEG2 plugin stretches the picture to full screen (480x576, SVCD format for PAL), and there is no possibility to add black bars to top and bottom, as with TMPGEnc.

My conclusion is that the aspect ratio is only preserved if the source movie has 4:3 aspect ratio. I find this a big limitation, so I will probably keep using TMPGEnc for SVCD encoding.

  5. Looks like they removed it. Could you send me the zip file?
