  1. I have a 20 gig Hard Drive and want to put as many movies on it as possible.

What is the best (size-wise) method to put a DVD, or a DVD ISO, or VOB files, or etc. on my hard drive while not utilizing the space to its best capacity.

I was thinking if there is a way to use the .d2v and .wav file, while not having to bring the VOB files, would be the best way. But I would imagine you'd have to make some sort of ghost or fake VOB copy, if that's even feasible.

    Thanks for the help.

easiest method - rip in file mode. Quality is perfect, but it takes the most space.

You can have great quality, small files and easy methods - pick any two.

Not so easy - convert from dvd to divx, svcd, vcd, etc. etc. - you can get great quality in a small file size, but you trade off "easiness"... you have to go through multiple progs and steps, usually.

What's "easy" to you? How much quality is necessary? How many movies do you want on your hard drive at one time?

20 Gig is a bit small during these days, especially when it comes to storing video. I have two (2) 200 Gig drives and two (2) 250 Gig drive internal and finally two external 120 Gig USB drives. I have filled them all up in 6 months before doing some house keeping duties on them. Your 20 Gig question as the other person commented depends on a lot of factors. But I will say this, if you are planning to try and store a bunch of movies for later viewing, you will be very limited, movie file sizes range considerably between 3 and 7 Gig, so you won't store many.

Easiest method to have movie and not take up too much space? Buy them. Or use DVD-R discs.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.
