This may be an obvious question, but, is it really necessary to region hack(with firware upgrade)the Pioneer in order to back up PAL discs, with decrypter? I would think it would be, but someone I know insists all you need is decrypter in IFO mode and set to region free. How about file mode?

    Hello

When you rip a movie with DVD DECRYPTER in either ISO or FILE modes it automatically removes the region code info making the copy region free. It also removes all copy protection.

For playback from your computers HDD rip the movie in FILE mode and make sure you go to EDIT ---> SELECT ALL FILES

This will make a complete copy to your HDD that you can then play back with your DVD software player. It will function just like the original DVD in that all the menus and chapter points and any and all extras will be there.

Thanks for the response. But maybe I should have been more coherent. Is it Necessary to region hack the Pioneer 105 for it to access the PAL DVD, in order for it to load into Decrypter, for ripping? Or will i get a wrong region message, as soon as it loads?

Just found out. It will load PAL discs into Decrypter, without a hitch. I figured that "the reader" would reject the disc, just like an unhacked DVD-Rom would. If it will load them into other ripper software, without a "wrong region message" is another question.

As I said DVD Decrypter can rip any region DVD regardless of the region set on the DVD drive you are using. With DVD Decrypter you don't need any other "ripping" program so what are you talking about!
