  1. My DVD player is capable of playing mpeg2 streams even when burned only on CD, so I tried encoding a DivX video to mpeg2 using Tmpgenc Plus.

The source video is 23.976fps so I changed the output to that as well. But when I burned and played it on my DVD player the video looks pixelated. Pausing the video, it looks ok, but playing it looks pixelated.

Changing the setting back to 29.97fps, I encoded again, and this time the video is of good quality. But changing the output to 29.97fps when the source video is 23.976 will cost some loss of frames, so I want to ask if there is a way to:

    - remedy the pixelation when encoding at 23.976fps, or
    - having 29.97fps without loss of frames when the source video is 23.976fps.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

When you encoded did you set TMPGenc's encode mode to 3:2 pulldown while playback? 23.976fps is not supported in the DVD standard, it needs the pulldown to instruct the DVD player to telecine the movie to 29.97fps as it plays. Without the pulldown flag applied any number of problems can occur.
