    Hi,

I usually visit the local BB in Miami every week and for the last couple of months you could only find some FUJIs + and Verbatims + along with some Sonys +/-.
I went to BB today and what a surprise!

    Verbatim -R 15 pack
    Verbatim -R 25 pack
    Verbatim -RW 25 pack
    Verbatim +R 2.4X
    Verbatim 1X-4X
    TDK 2X +/-/+RW/-RW diff. packs
    Memorex +R 4X /!/
    Memorex -R 4X /!/
    FUJI +R
    FUJI -R
    SONY +/-R

I think the list above is not even complete.

All media except for RW was priced at $2 without the tax /6% in Florida/.

I wanted to buy some Memorex but I couldn't find any comments in the forum or anywhere else. I was short of cash so got only a 15 pack of Verbatim +R 4X, at least these are tested already.
Obviously some of the people at BB are reading some of these forums /I hope so/ or this is a miracle or something.
On the other side to confirm how informed they are /in their own store/ while I was looking at the media at one of the shelves one of the guys told me they had more media on the nearby one /10 yards from where I was/. On that shelf there were only 3 types of DVD media...
Please post some results if you try those Memorex 4X!

    Enjoy!

  3. It's not a miracle -- DVD recordables are just hitting saturation point.

Far more impressive case in point: I went yesterday to our Target, which in the past has carried about six or so DVD recordables -- not the number of brands, the *total* number of disks they ever have at one time. But yesterday it was like an explosion: there were 8 or 9 different brands of DVD-R, DVD+R, -RW/+RW, cakeboxes of various sorts... it was suddenly like Target discovered DVD burning!

In our city (a tiny little cow-town where even the computer store doesn't carry burnable media) this was a revelation. But it just shows me that we are turning the corner and stores are starting to recognize people want this stuff.

I remember having the same sort of ephipany when I discovered Raley's (our local supermarket) was carrying CDR media (about three years or so ago). Now when Raley's starts carrying DVDR... then I'll know the revolution has truly arrived.

So the bottom line is we should start seeing more and more of this and be less and less surprised. Good news for us all (I'll still buy online for the immediate future, but it's always nice to know you can pick up media in a hurry).
