can someone help me here when i burn to a disk i end up with 5 folders on the disk which are cdi, ext, mpegav, segment, vcd so is this now a vcd format. if not what am i looking for.

Sounds right to me. The movie is stored in the mpegav dir as a .dat file. Stick the disk in a hardware or software VCD compatible DVD player and, assuming it can read your media (cdr/w brand and type) the movie will play fine.
