  1. ok first off, ive only been doing this a couple days so some of my questions might seem a bit stupid so bear with me.

1- can i use adobe premier to encode and author my svcd's and if so would the quality be any better than tmpgenc which i am using now.

2- Can I make vcd's with avi files or do i have to encode to mpeg.

3- I was encoding a movie from avi to mpeg2 with tmpgenc and at about 15% the preview window froze on the same frame both times i tried it but it showed it was still encoding. Just thought it was weird that it would freeze on the same frame both times.

And last but not least..Is it ok for me to do other things on my comp while im encoding or does that seem to screw up the movie at all..Im running a AMD 2000+ 256 DDR 2100 ram.

Thx in advance for any help you guys can give me on these subjects.

    1. Encode - yes, author - no. Will it look better, too many varibles. Adobe has many mpeg plugins to choose from for output, it depends on the encoder and settings. Generally the quality should be close, but is dependant on your eyes.

    2. It has to be in mpeg1 for a VCD, read the specs on what a VCD is. https://www.videohelp.com/glossary#VCD

    3. Could be a bad frame in the avi file. Scan it with Virtual Dub for bad frames.

You can do what ever you want while encoding. The only bad effect is that it can/will increase the overall time it takes to encode.

  3. i whould frameserve from adobe to tmpeg.
premiere is grate for editing, it has a lot of options.
but the only encoder plugin i found that produced the best output was cce,
the others are not so good in my opinion.

you can frameserve to tmpeg and encode to whatever you want.
HELL AINT A BAD PLACE TO BE
