  1. My VCD only plays the first few seconds of the menu screen then stops and freezes on that frame. If I hit stop, then play it goes for another few secs, then stops. After three or four times,it plays through until it loops and happens all over again. Also, one of the movies stops about half way through and jumps back to the menu, even though there was more to play! I ran a bug fix on all the files and used TMPEG enc for all. What might be happening?

This could be caused by several things.

Make sure that your DVD Player plays VCD's (check the compatibility list on this website)

Check the CD-R(W)'s you are using. If your DVD Player is not listed in the above list. Try different colour layered ones. Silver coloured usually work best.

Burn your VCD at a slower speed. If you burn the mpeg file directly, try using VCDImager(GUI) to create and then burn an image file. It might work better.

  3. My DVD is a Sanyo 6040,so it does support VCD. I've made many VCD's before, and this has only happened once before when I first started. I mostly make animtions and burn them.

I use Roxio Easy CD 5 Plat. I tried burning at 1x and it wasn't any better, and infact locked up sooner than before. I used Sony CD-R,it's blue bottomed,so I will look for silver ones.Any idea on brand names?

Recommend getting the cheapest you can get - somehow they usually work best. Brand named CD-R(W)'s seem to cause more problems than no-name products.

Just checked the DVD Player compatibility List on this website and Gold Layered CD-RW's were recommended!
