    Just got my HP 300i drive. seems fine. I am more familar with Nero than what the drive came with so I would like to keep it. Problem is, Nero takes FOREVER to recognize the drive properly and start a writing process. It works but there's this couple of minute delay. It has been recommended to get rid of Nero before installing the HP supplied software but I am reluctant to do that unless there is no other way.

    Has anyone come across this and is there a fix other than dumping Nero?

    Maybe you can try unistalling Nero, then reinstalling it. I updated Nero right after I got my HP 300i and I haven't had a problem yet. Give it a try.
