  1. Hi everyone,
I am an extreme newbie and would like to know if there is a way to rip a really small part of a DVD. There is this small part in a movie, only 1 minute, that I would like to have on my computer so I don't have to load the DVD, go to the chapter and so on just to be able to see it. Please let me know the best and/or easiest program to understand to do this if it is possible. I can convert it to Divx or mpg or avi, they will all work for me.

One cheap way to do it is with the DVD Shrink program (free). It will let you trim from the beginning and ending points of a dvd. Probably designed more for trimming a minute out and keeping the rest but it will work the other way too. It's free and pretty quick.

  4. what format will DVD shrink save it as? I looked at it before but it was kind of hard to understand. Do you know if there is a guide on how to do it on this site? Sorry if I am asking questions that have already been answered.

  6. Use DVDx(for mpeg output) or ChopperXP(for VOB).They both have sliders to go to exact point in movie.

  8. Butting into this topic if I may cos I have a similar question ....

All I am trying to do is convert just one chapter on a DVD to an AVI file. Reading posts on here it sounds simple enough, right ??

Not for me it isn't !!!

Bear in mind the chapter in question is only about 5 minutes long.

I have successfully ripped the chapter, tried using DVDDecrypter and Smart Ripper, to get a VOB, IFO and various other types of file.

But when I then try tp convert these files to an AVI file, through VirtualDub or DVD2AVI, Windows tells me that FAT32 can't have files greater then 4.3GB Surely a 10 min MPEG2 file converted to AVI isn't 4.2GB in size ??

I must be doing something wrong - anyone got any ideas ??

    Regards,

    Adam Brunt
