  1. I have just purchased this drive and when the drive is reading a disc it is extremely noisy i was just wondering if this is normal for this drive or is it damaged?

  2. I have also just purchased this drive but have not had any problems with it.

What disk is it? CD? DVD? Movie? DVD-R?

Is the drive secure in its bay?

What type of sound does it make? A whir? A rattle?
    Thx in Advance!!

    Hello

I just found this model for what I consider to be a "dirt" cheap price.
This is the new version that supports 2x DVD-R writing, correct?

Perhaps the disc is slightly warped? Check out the forum for other posts about this drive as there seems to be nothing but problems for many others. It's what prompted me to go for a different model.

  7. I own it. Its great. Never a problem. I purchased from Avlogic.

If the drive is making a loud noise you should exchange it.

  8. Couple of other things about this drive.

It's a Dvd-Ram burner so if you have one of those Panasonic set top Dvd recorders this is a great addition for editing purposes. It burns Dvd-Ram at 2x.

It is a great Dvd-r(w) burner as well. Rated at 2x. A real advantage I found is that the burner accepts OptoDisc Dvd-r's at 2x. These are the ones priced at around 85 cents. They burn at 2x without any firmware upgrades , hacked firmware , secret tips and tricks etc. This is a real money and time saver if you want to burn at 2x. The savings on the Dvd-r's may pay for the drive over time.

Inexpensive Optos and cases with free shipping rated at 2x on this drive. No more crying the blues about Riteks not in stock at a huge price premium.
