ok i have an XviD encoded AVI file i wish to make a vcd from mpeg1 anyways i every other time have just used the file as video/audio for TMPGEnc and encode that way when i try with this 1 it says the sound is not supported so i thought i would use virt dub and rip the sound but it says
the requested audio compression is not compatible with the imput format. check that the sampling rate and channel count of the imput file match those of the requested format.
the audio is encoded at 448kbpshow can i 1 encode the avi to mpeg1 or rip the sound from the avi?

Do you have sound when you play the Avi file on your PC? If not, then you probably need an audio codec. Get Gspot from the Tools section and test your file to see what coded is required, then install it. You should be able to convert like usual after that, although creating a wav file for the audio source is recommended. 8)

ok well when i play the avi it has sound i did run that Gspot and it also tells me i have 2 codecs installed that will handle the audio
code name
ac3 (0x2000) Dolby Laboratories, Inc
bitrate
448 kb/s (89/ch x 5 ch) CBR
Fs
48000 Hz -
Make sure that you have the AC3 codec installed.
To create a wav file from AC3 audio there is a couple of ways, the easiest is to use Goldwave. Just load your avi then save.
The other way is a little more complicated, rip with virtualdub and convert to wav with headac3he or ac3tool, here's a guide: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=91588"Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa -
