  1. I wonder if anyone could help.

I have a DC1000 and capture around 1 hour of movie to a
Pinnacle AVI file using the following parameters

    Bit Rate : 25Mbit/s
    video : PAL 720x576 25fps
    Audio : 48KHz 16 Bit Stereo.

I then make a VCD/XVCD (same parameters as VCD but
1.5mbit/s bit rate) out of the file using TMPGEnc. The
quality is great but the picture freezes and the audio
keeps going. After a random amount of time the motion
returns and the audio is still perfectly sync'd.

I read somewhere that the Pinnacle Encoder does something
odd at each GB boundary which causes problems for
TMPGEnc, hence the regular picture freezes.

Does anyone have a solution to the problem.

    Thanks,

    Colin.

  2. Try to run the MPEG1 file thru VCD Gear to check whether the MPEG is compliant or not. VCD Gear will also fix the MPEG1 file if there is any errors. What I normally do after the MPEG1 file has been created is to run the file thru VCD Gear.

Convert first the MPEG1 file into its DAT format. Then convert the DAT file back again to MPEG1. The resulting MPEG file will be then compliant and error free.
