no sound on film

i have got a film that plays perfect on windows media but when i encode
it i get no sound what is happening

Have to be more precise... from what videoformat are you encoding to what format??? DivX to VCD,SVCD,DVD (MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG2)???
What tools are you using??? There are "TONS" of tools with different quality/settings/options!!!

SO, BE MORE PRECISE, else you don't get ANY decent answer!!!
