Howdy.
I've seen fav animes, but how bout this one? What is your favorite animated series?
Mine would have to be GARGOYLES.
Batman: TAS, Superman: TAS, X-Men (90s version), Battle of the Planets (or G-Force, or Gatchaman...take your pick), Beast Wars, and original Transformers are all great, but Gargoyles is my top pick.![]()

Gonna flex and show my age again. Johnny Quest. Race Bannon was a badass (pardon my french).
Hello. -
Most of MTV's classic animation series (such as Aeon Flux) were great, but my two favorites have to be Beavis and Butt-head and its spin-off, Daria. In fact, it's been a perpetual project to get the latter onto DVD from my meticulously maintained VHS tapes, since I highly doubt that MTV's gonna get off their ass and do it any time soon.

Thundercats, Silverhawks
Transformers (this is American-made, not anime)
X-MEN, Spiderman & His Amazing Friends, Spiderman 1996
Smurfs
Ducktales, Darkwing Duck, Talespin
X-MEN Evolution
Batman TAS, Superman TAS, Justice League
X-MEN Evolution
Simpsons
and finally... KING OF THE HILL... because down here in Texas, that's not just a cartoon show, it's a documentary, and I'm being serious!
all of us 70s kids got screwed, it wasn't until the 80s and 90s that cartoons got goodI'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored. -

Sorry bub, but it still an animated show.
It didn't ask whats yer favorite American cartoon, it asked what yer favorite animated show was. Last I looked anime is an animated show. Plus it had its first run in the US--so what if it was made in Japan. So was Speed Racer, Voltron and others. Thundercats was made in Korea. I know all about Robotech and that they were actually 3 different cartoons in Japan.. and you know what? BIG F!#$!@#$ING DEAL. He asked what our favorite was and I gave it.
Do you have any idea how much of a jackass you come off as on these boards? -

Ooooh! You did not just go there
You check your facts. Check out the credits in Thundercats. EVERY LAST ONE IS AN ASIAN NAME.
Maybe you should be the one to look into facts. The art, storyboards, scripts and animation were all done in Korea. Maybe Canadian actors did the voice overs, but that's a farcry from it being a Canadian show -
One thousand years ago, superstition and the sword ruled.
It was a time of darkness. It was a world of fear.
It was the age of gargoyles.
Stone by day, warriors by night,
we were betrayed by the humans we had sworn to protect,
frozen in stone by a magic spell for a thousand years.
Now, here in Manhattan, the spell is broken, and we live again!
We are defenders of the night!
We are Gargoyles! -

It is also highly likely the artists were imported over here, as that happened in the 80s a lot.I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored. -
And the nintendo I bought at Bestbuy is an American product too. Who cares if it was made it Japan! I bought it in America.
See the flaw in your logic yet? -
Nintendo was a Japanese product too. The USA and every other country imported it. In this situation, if the Nintendo was a cartoon, it would be anime.
My logic is based on what the intended ORIGINAL purpose of the show was (or in the product comparisons, the ORIGINAL intended use of the items, not which company gave the cheapest bid to help produce a little piece of it). Robotech, Voltron, Speed Racer, etc, were imports as they were dubbed anime, having not been English first. Thundercats, Transformers, etc were originally American/British and are categorized as animated (not anime, which is reserved especially for Japanese/Asian animation), and appeared first in the language of the Animated category, which is generally English, although German and Russian items could be here too.
We need to quit posting here now about all this. We're tearing up this poor guy's thread. Let's get back to the cartoons again...I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored. -
Well to get back to the original question, I would say the Simpsons, without a doubt. For a show to have run for so long and be of such consistent good quality realy is a rareity, animated or not. The writing is superb.

Mysterious Cities of Gold
Dogtanian and the Three Muskerhounds
Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors

No other animated show (Korean or otherwise, get over it txpharoah) has such a broad mix of emotions and topic's, and has been consistently hilarious (not funny, hilarious) for it's entire run-time.
Of course it won't be a popular choice, some folks have problems agreeing with the masses
Family Guy is a great show, as is Futurama and let's not forget Danger Mouse (the voices of David Jason and Terry Scott as youalready knew)!!!!!
Pretty much like the Simpson's it had a broad appeal, and there were clearly jokes in there aimed at a more mature audience.

The Best:
The Simpsons
Honourable Mentions:
Family Guy
South Park
Futurama
King of the Hill -
Yes, Simpsons are certainly my choice for top animated show. I think there have been maybe 3-4 epsiodes out of their 300+ that I didn't think were that good, so that's impressive. In fact I've always wanted there to be a contest where you get to sit in with the Simpsons writers for an episode; I imagine it would involve a LOT of coffee.
A close runner-up is Family Guy. I loved the random comedy you can pull off in an animated show. I don't think there's a single epsiode of its short0lived existence that I didn't like. I got the DVD set the day before it came out and I already have the second (and last) set on order for when it comes out in July or August. The only reason the Simpsons gets the better of this is because its humor is a bit more refined and has the legacy of being on television for so many years. I'm still amazed that Family Guy didn't get such a huge following until it was pulled from the networks. Those guys coud still be making episodes now. -

I think that is only available to Australian residents only though, so what better time to move hehe -
Hardcore Russ, that was going to be the top part of my list too
Well, except for Jayce. Never got to see it.
Put Trapdoor there as well.
Yes it was made with plasticine.
But I do believe that "animated show" covers "stop-motion animated"..
More later-= She sez there's ants in the carpet, dirty little monsters! =-
Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more! -
Family Guy all the way! i laugh so hard that it hurts at almost every episode! The Simpsons, Futurama, Rocko's Modern Life, and Ren & Stimpy are also great!
