I have recently heard hat there exists some firmware that will allow the pioneer 104 dvd burner to burn DVD's at 2x. Would some one please tell me the name of the firmware needed for the burn speed uprade. Also could I render my DVD burner inoperable by installing new firmare. If so can I reinstall the original firmware.
Thanks in advance,
VC

You 104 can already burn DVDs at 2x. However if you are talking about the hacked firmware that allows burning of any disk at 2x then you should look this way: http://forum.firmware-flash.com/viewforum.php?f=2&sid=db5add7a408f987290d35fdaf1a2060e
A little reading should provide your answer.
However beware, 1: yes you can downgrade back if needed(this is down by using another hacked firmware to "downgrade" to an early firmware then installing the latest officail firmware again), but the slim chance still exist you could screw the drive. And 2: Most 1x disk cannot take 2x burning very well, alot of people (myself included) have good luck using Ritek G03s for this. There are other brands that will do it but personally I have not tried any of them yet.
Good luck.
