  1. I have a movie on my hard drive that I want to rip and put on CD-R disc as a VCD. When I try using DVD Decrypter or Smart Ripper, it only wants to look for movie in the DVD ROM drive. Can someone tell me where I can find info about making VCD discs from movies on the computers hard drive.

    Thanks

if it is already on your HD there is no need to rip it again.

OK - seriously, this is what you want to do.
Follow this guide, but you allready have the movie on your hard drive so start at the DVD2AVI step.

  5. Thanks for your suggestion but I already had that information and it does not work, or I am misunderstanding the directions, but since they are printed with diagrams, I think they are easy to understand. The movie on the hard drive was downloaded through a PtoP program and reads as Movie then title of movie then says full. I can watch it through media player, but when I try going directly to DVD2AVI there is nothing to work with. I tried following directions starting at smart ripper, but apparently there is something very different. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks again

  7. Here is what I see when I place the mouse over the description:

MOVIE name of movie full (I ssume this means the full movie as I can watch it from start to finish on media player) Type Winamp media file date and size.

I do not see any file extension, just the type file it is

Hang on...if its an MPEG, and a full movie, and was downloaded via a p2p...then chances are it is already in VCD or SVCD format and is ready to burn with Nero or similar....or perhaps not.

  13. Consider me brain dead today. Normally when I use TMPGenc, the wizard comes up to use a specific template, which is 1 disc ntsc and from there I load the video and audio files, select source range, ending point, etc., and eventually goes through the lengthly encoding process, then when done I burn onto a CD-R disk.

That said, I can do all the same with this movie, but as far as knowing whether I have the wav file, all I can say is it came up in audio with exact same description as the video file.

If I go directly into TMPGEnc, and skip the wizard, I can go to new project and load the movie, at bottom of screen it shows video source, audio source and output fie name, all the same. Says MPEG-1 352x240 29.97fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer 2 44100HZ 192kbps. Stream type video+Audio.

OK, now I am lost, so guess I do not know how to extract the wav. file, or if I already have it or what.

By the way, I tried burning as is, and of course, it is too big to fit on the disc.

Hope I have given you enough info, to continue to guide me. And, a very big thank you for what you have done so far. It is people like you, that make me want to continue to learn more, so that I can hlep others someday.
