heres a guess have you tried using the firewire connection instead of your usb connection
I was just about to post if i can install a firewire card would this work better than USB -
gary..did u find out if it is better / possible to just install the camera into a firewire connection point...my pc has these built in..regards

I use a firewire card to capture DV from my sony handy cam. Win XP pro already had the drivers and it works great. With firewire, Ulead Video Studio 7 can control my camera from the PC. Do you have USB 1.1 or 2.0?
The capture might not be able to keep up with the handy cam. -

The only reason for using the USB connection is to take the still shots off of the memory card, if you're trying to capture video you will have to use the Firewire card. But if you use the firewire card you will not be able to get the pictures off of the memory card. Good ol' Sony releasing more crap into the public.

the cam i have does not have a memory card...you are supposed to be able to capture the stills direct from the camera film.....will need firewire to camera adaptor lead to use my plug in direct...obtaining..regards k

hi the same thing happened to me and although my software says xp on it it never worked microsoft told me to uninstall the software and cap with moviemaker or some other and i have yet to ever crash. the software wont work so take it off and cap with a different prog. i have yet to hear jsnkc say something that was not studid, wrong, ignorant or all three.
you can cap with usb but invest in the firewire and get rid of the software. xp will plug and play i guarantee it -

whenyou are in image mixer and your camcorder is conected you see the two icons one is a camera and the other is a camcorder well click on the camera when the camcorder is switched on the icon in themiddle of both will be highlighted press play on the control panel on screen and just click the icon when you want an image as it is being shown it will be saved to your hard drive someware in the imagemixer directory just go there when youneed them in pinnacle hope you understand that as im not a good deminstrator
