From what I've read and heard, those brands are not necessarily the best. But, they are rather cheap in bulk as far as cost goes. As for quality, I have never used any of those brands. I mainly stick to Fujifilm brand DVD-Rs. I have also used Apple, Memorex and TDK brand DVD-Rs with no blocking, pixelation, etc...and some are burned to almost the very edge of the DVD-R. I would rather pay a slightly higher price, instead of saving money in the short-term and find my "backups" unwatchable in the near future. However, I do realize that some of us in this particular hobby do have a limited budget.
*I used Nero Infotool and found that some Fujifilm DVD-Rs I bought were made by Taiyo Yuden. So, I bought some more! -
Hi,
I'm from holland to and use Platinum and Imation.
No coaster yet and they work flwaless on both my Pioneer players and PS2. For now I stick with Platinum the right price and about quality the only thing I can say is time will tell. They look sollid and I think they are allright to use. The really cheap dvd's are the ones I keep away from just like the no name ones.
(Zeker op de beurzen kan je goedkoop platinum verkrijgen 1,60 per stuk)

Hi, I'm from Belgium, that's close to Holland; I have a Pioneer A103 in my Mac and a Panasonic DMR E20
for most critical items I use Maxell or Fuji, never had a problem;
for "cheaper", less ctitical things: Optodisc, Datatrack: results are generally good, just an occasional coaster;
the media that are more problematic for me and I don't use again: Imation and Sentinel
