I am going to buy a new computer. It will be used for video editing, conversion, and authoring 1-3 times a week. I hope it will be reasonably speedy. Anybody can give me some advice on the memory and video card?
Does video editing, conversion, and authoring use mainly memory or video card?
e.g. 512M memory with 32M video card, or
256M memory with 64M video card?
In addition, what are the other hardware or software I should consider?
Thanks in advance!

It mainly depends on the processor, not the video card or the memory. 256MB should be fine, 512MB is better if you intend to do editing. The video card hardly matters. A really bad card will hurt you, but a really good one won't help you that much.
